Camp Writing Coaches

Anne Liners (she/her) is a proud Red Oak graduate and current English teacher at Eden Prairie High School just outside of Minneapolis. She attended Augsburg University in Minneapolis, where she studied Education, Literature, and Linguistics. Anne loves reading and writing (if you hadn’t figured that out already), playing tennis, watching theater, and spending any amount of time she possibly can near bodies of water.
Max Franks is a writer and thespian studying English and the classics at Washington University in St. Louis. A veteran of four NaNoWriMos (National Novel Writing Months), he enjoys writing fantasy and speculative fiction and has had one short story published in Strange Horizons. When not writing, he can be found petting cats, reading Shakespeare plays with his theater group, or taking names at swordfighting club. He attended Red Oak Writing Camp for eight years as a camper and is excited to return.
I’m Emma Kuehn and next year I will be a junior at Marquette University. I’m currently majoring in Political Science and minoring in English. In my spare time I like to hang out with my cat named Thor, work out, and watch the Milwaukee Bucks on TV. My dream is to go to law school one day, but in the meantime I’d love to improve my fiction writing skills and make some new friends over the summer!

Jacob Knuth (they/them) is an experienced author, educator, and filmmaker. A returning Red Oak staff and an alumnus of the program, Jacob spent 4 years in Los Angeles and worked for Columbia College Chicago’s fiction writing program. They are passionate about writing and hope to inspire campers to do some of their best work, not to mention a person who prioritizes inclusivity and diversity. “Red Oak is usually the best week of the Summer and I am so happy that I can be involved in it as a counselor now,” they say.
